Todd Radle was diagnosed with kidney cancer a week before Christmas, 2004, after being hospitalized with severe pain in his lower back.  The doctors found a large tumor on his kidney, along with some smaller tumors in his right lung.

After many tests and doctor visits, God worked in wonderful ways to allow Todd to be a part of a clinical study at NIH (National Institutes of Health) in Bethesda, MD in early February.

 

On February 17, 2005, Todd underwent a major and very difficult surgery to remove the large tumor and the kidney that it had overtaken.  It was an eight hour surgery, in which Todd lost a lot of blood which caused a few setbacks.  The surgeons were successful in removing most of the tumor and the kidney, but the setbacks, including

an infection in his heart valves, caused Todd to  remain in the ICU for 2 weeks and 2 days following this surgery.  It is believed he endured a stroke as well, which caused loss of vision in his left eye and unclear and confused thinking.

 

Todd came home after spending 4 1/2 weeks in the hospital, on March 13, 2005.  When he returned for further testing and evaluations at NIH on April 12th and 13th, we learned Todd's cancer had spread, and that he was not able to endure any further treatment at that time.  He was very weak.

 

On April 29th we heard the worst news we could ever hear.  The doctors said the cancer was spreading rapidly, and that there was nothing more they could do to help him.

 

Todd passed away on May 6, 2005.

TODD J. RADLE, age 44, of Media, PA, died on Friday, May 6, 2005 at his home, with family and friends at his side.  He was married to Wendy Burry Radle on February 27, 1988.  Born in Ridley Park on 12-25-60, he was the son of Sara Jean Kounnas Radle of Woodlyn, and the late Frederick Radle.  In 1978 he graduated from Ridley High School, where he participated in the band as a drummer.  He was a route salesman for the Stroehmann Bakeries in the greater Philadelphia area for the past 13 years.  An active member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Glen Mills, he had served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, Jr. Church leader, and song leader.  In addition to his wife of 17 years and his mother, he is survived by six children:  Abraham, Nathan, Trina, Tiffany, Winter, and Toby; two brothers: Timothy Radle of Woodlyn, and Bart Radle of Upland; and three sisters: Naomi Ortiz of Riverside, NJ, Joy Santan of Brookhaven, and Holly Cheng of Yeadon.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 11 am at Bible Baptist Church, Paoli Pike & Airport Road, West Chester.   Interment at Lawn Croft Cemetary, Linwood, PA.  Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 9-11am.
